Utah ranks 41st among states for assisted living cost in that survey, so Salt Lake families often find prices lower than relatives in other states expect. Monthly figures here are the annual medians divided by 12.

Is there a Salt Lake City cost figure for senior care?

No. CareScout collects rates at the metropolitan-area level but published only state and national medians for its 2025 survey, so there is no published Salt Lake City or Salt Lake County figure, and we do not invent one.

Expect real quotes to vary widely around the state median. Newer large buildings on the east bench and in the south valley tend to quote above it; small residential homes, which Utah licenses in the “small” and “limited capacity” size classes, often quote below it, sometimes with fewer amenities. The only reliable Salt Lake number is the one in a facility's written rate sheet.

How much does memory care cost in Salt Lake City?

No published median exists: CareScout does not survey memory care as its own category for Utah or any other state, so any single “average memory care cost” figure you see has no traceable public source.

In Utah, memory care is a secure unit inside a Type II assisted living license, and facilities price it themselves, usually as a higher base rate or an added care level. Ask each building for the secure-unit rate, what is included, and how care levels are reassessed. Compare the written numbers side by side rather than relying on a quoted average.

What does home care cost compared with assisted living in Utah?

Utah's 2025 median for a non-medical home caregiver is $89,804 a year for 44 hours a week, about $39.25 an hour, which is higher than Utah's assisted living median once care runs more than about 30 hours a week.

Paid hours per weekMonthly home care at $39.25/hourVersus assisted living median ($5,233)
10$1,701less
20$3,402less
30$5,102less
31$5,273more
40$6,803more
56$9,525more
84$14,287more
168$28,574more

Home care is priced by the hour and assisted living by the month, so the comparison depends on hours. A few hours a week of help at home is far cheaper than a move; round-the-clock home care costs well over double the assisted living median. Utah ranks 15th for home care cost in CareScout's survey, unusually high relative to its assisted living rank.

What does a nursing home cost in Utah?

Utah's 2025 median is $104,025 a year for a semi-private nursing home room, about $285 a day, and $127,750 a year for a private room, about $350 a day.

Most long-term nursing home stays in Utah are eventually paid by Medicaid; Medicare pays only for limited short-term skilled stays after a qualifying hospital admission. See how Utah Medicaid pays for nursing home care and what Medicare covers.
